Following the release of Lower River, one rework was commissioned for each piece on the album. The project serves as a counterpart accentuation to directly accompany the original material. The artists were thoughtfully selected and asked to reinterpret the compositions with no limitations or guidelines in place. The results beautifully range from simple timbral shifts sweeping across to drastic world extension and reshaping. The collection now breathes as a unique air billowing through the Lower River.

i bought this because it appears in jeff tobias' (sunwatchers) bandcamp collection (right beside my first solo album)... i had been speaking with an artist on my label (cloud recordings) about our mutual love of avant-garde cello, and this album really appeals to me... if you are interested in layered, morphed cello, check out the sister sai album, extempore (which is available on bandcamp). sister sai played the festival i put on, called cloud recordings festival, and was extraordinary! cloudrecordings

I'm reminded of something my grandfather Oscar told me that I never forgot. He said that he thought the cello was the only instrument that sounded the closest to a human heart...breaking. And that holds so true on this record. Thank you Aaron for your beautiful cello, as well as all the other wonderful stringed instruments. If this is the new "electro-acoustic classical" count me on board! bambilyn
