Form The Head and Beacon Sound present the long-anticipated second album by Portland's Apartment Fox. Over the course of 75 minutes and 14 tracks of gritty, subterranean techno, The Future Is Not Human traverses a landscape that is by turns claustrophobic and incandescent. The album was written over a 3-year period and represents the artist's experience navigating a fragmented world where many centuries of human environmental exploitation are coming to a head on a global scale. Dubby, noisy, urgent, and eminently danceable, TFINH is a soundtrack for this year.

As the artist writes: "Through the pitch black night come beats and rhythms that are meant to make the body move, to cleanse the listener of the stagnation and despair of late capitalism – unfolding into the joyful and playful space necessary to transcend a broken system."

Apartment Fox has been making “techno” for more than a decade, first with the band Operative and then as a solo artist. His first album was released by Beacon Sound in 2013; a subsequent EP, Traded Structures, was released on Motor in 2015, followed by a remix cassette, also on Motor, in 2016. He has shared bills with the likes of The Field, Demdike Stare, SHXSHXSHXSHX, Patricia, Strategy, Golden Donna, and more. Many of the sounds on TFINH are produced from home-built equipment and field recordings taken in various forests and streams in and around Cascadia.
