about

MYMK returns with an album inspired, appropriately, by the subject of human frailty. Cinematic in scope and redolent of the aging mid-20th-century architecture of the artist's home city, The Amputees is a nest of unsettling electronics. Like a Situationist détourné through a paranoid and impermanent urban landscape, the album at times feels cathartic. At other times, though, you wouldn't be faulted for feeling like there is no way out; an apt metaphor, perhaps, both for the cities we construct and the bodies we inhabit. Eventual ruin is guaranteed.

Composer and sound artist Bruno Sres (Brasília, Brazil) uses sonic fragments maintaining a close attention to textural detail, unfolding reflective electronics, melody and structure delivered through processed instrumentation. He has worked with labels such as Sounds et al, Søvn, and Beacon Sound and was invited to participate in the 2020 virtual edition of the Novas Frequências Festival in Rio.
