"In the (Conrad and Cale) philosophy at the core of the Theater Of Eternal Music, is a commitment to deprogram proprietary composition and the cult of the Western composer. It means that really, we can all join the TEM – we can all be part of the theatre if we so wish...I received instructions to play it loud to be fully consumed and can attest to it needing some vibrational levels of playback for it to really unfurl from the rich heaviness of the layered drones to a full-on psychedelic cloud of sound...Suzuki has the chops for the microtones and Krausbauer has that Tony Conrad/Henry Flynt fiddle butchery style locked down. I only wish this was longer."

For the final chapter of our series of Bandcamp Friday-specific projects we present you with a new work by Oakland musicians John Krausbauer and Kaori Suzuki. Available digitally and as a 12" in a limited edition of just 100 copies pressed by Burlington Record Plant.
Divided into two parts and pressed at 45rpm for maximum dynamic range, the 12" is available by itself or in a special edition of 35 copies with an accompanying Risograph-printed booklet entitled Eight Phases.
"Night Angel Of Dual Infinities" is a durational music for voices, strings, bells, and electro-acoustic drones. It is an homage to ecstatic and trance musics, which are fundamental to most all of Krausbauer & Suzuki's musical concepts and endeavors. Central to the sound are the breaths and cycles of the dual voices and strings against an elemental ground of pulsating polyharmonics, creating what has been described as an “ecstatic free drone music” - pushing momentum outward and towards the horizons.
John Krausbauer is a composer/multi-instrumentalist based in Oakland, CA and co-founder of the Los Angeles publishing label, Besom Presse. A long time purveyor of the ur-drone and trance-psychedelia, his compositional work involves audio transmissions for TOTAL/immersive experience. Transcendence through repetition, duration, alternate tunings, maximum volumes, and stroboscopic lighting. In recent years he has returned to improvisational playing and sought out particular collaborations to further explore his interest in improvisatory music-making.
Kaori Suzuki is a Tokyo-born music maker/composer living in Oakland, CA. Her spiraling sound visions often take form in long durations, using electroacoustic sound technologies, high-register electronics, modified acoustic instruments, and tape. She seeks to create heightened listening states, emphasizing finding ‘music’ within activated space-time.
Both artists compose and perform with the rotating collective Ecstatic Music Band (Fabrica, Beacon Sound) and have performed live in Mexico, Europe, Japan, Canada, and the US. "Night Angel Of Dual Infinities" was performed live at the 2018 Time-Based Art Festival in Portland.

Absolutely love this recording. I listen to it at work. I listen to it in the car on the way home from work. I listen to it while falling asleep. Curtis’ cello is so amazing. Just got the vinyl in the mail from Discogs the other day! Can’t wait to play on my hi-fi system! Dave Sewall
